Strictly Come Dancing line-up revealed

Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, 'EastEnders' actress Louise Lytton and goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel are among the stars who have signed up to take part in the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Former 'Bad Girls' and 'Emmerdale' star Claire King, comedian Jimmy Tarbuck, television presenter Carol Smilie and 'Coronation Street' star Ray Fearon will also be taking part in the show.

The new series, which will once again be presented by Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth, will also see singer Mica Paris, comedy actress Jan Ravens and 'Casualty' star Georgina Bouzova, England rugby player Matt Dawson, newsreader Nicholas Owen and cricketer Mark Ramprakash take to the dance floor.

Ligament injury for Wilkinson

ENGLAND rugby star Jonny Wilkinson will be sidelined for between four and eight weeks after being diagnosed with a torn medial ligament in his right knee.

Wilkinson has suffered a catalogue of injuries since the 2003 World Cup - where he kicked the title-winning drop goal to beat hosts Australia - including neck, bicep, knee ligament and groin problems.

The fly half is in doubt to play for England in its home internationals in October and November.

BBC unveils new spicy dance line-up

Baby Spice Emma Bunton, ex-Bad Girls star Claire King and EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton have signed up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, it was announced.

Former Manchester United goalie Peter Schmeichel, comedian Jimmy Tarbuck and TV presenter Carol Smillie are also taking part.

Lytton, 17, who plays gangster's daughter Ruby Allen in the Walford-based soap, is the youngest contestant and will partner Italian ballroom dancer Vincent Simone.

King, who found fame as superbitch Kim Tate in Emmerdale, will team up with Love Island ladies' man Brendan Cole.

The other female celebrities are singer Mica Paris, comedy actress Jan Ravens and Casualty's Georgina Bouzova.

Joining Schmeichel and Tarbuck in the male line-up are former England rugby player Matt Dawson, newsreader Nicholas Owen, cricketer Mark Ramprakash, actor Ray Fearon (hunky mechanic Nathan in Coronation Street) and Radio 1's DJ Spoony.


Wilkinson out with torn ligament

England rugby star Jonny Wilkinson could miss the autumn international tests after being told he will be sidelined for up to eight weeks with a torn medial ligament in his right knee.

Wilkinson has suffered a catalogue of injuries since the 2003 World Cup when he kicked the championship-winning drop goal which beat hosts Australia - including neck, bicep, knee ligament and groin problems.

And the Newcastle fly-half, injured against Worcester on Friday when a teammate fell on him, is likely not to return to international action until the 2007 Six Nations Championship.

Wilkinson, England's record points scorer, has not represented his country since the 2003 World Cup final in Sydney, having suffered a series of setbacks including three knee injuries, in addition to neck, bicep, groin and appendix problems.


Ex-rugby coach Woodward takes Olympic job

Former England rugby coach Clive Woodward has been appointed Director of Elite Performance at the British Olympic Association, the BOA said.

Woodward, who guided England to victory in the rugby World Cup in 2003, will provide support and services for the 35 Olympic sports, working with each of them individually.

"It is a privilege to be joining the BOA at such an exciting time for British Olympic sport," the 50-year-old said in a BOA news release.

"I will use my past experiences in high performance sport to assist the 35 Olympic sports to achieve their own aspirations, and... ensure the performance of Team GB is maximised in the years ahead.

"The prospect of working together with our elite coaches and athletes is tremendously exciting for me." Woodward will also be responsible for Team GB's preparation camp for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and will act as Deputy Chef de Mission (Performance) for Beijing, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and 2012 London Games.


Canada wallops Kazakhstan 44-5 at Women's Rugby World Cup ...

EDMONTON (CP) - Heather Moyse scored four tries to lead Canada to a 44-5 victory over Kazakhstan on Friday and a place in the semifinals of the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Canada finished match play in a tie for third place alongside France and Scotland with a record of 2-1, but took third spot and assured its place in the semis thanks to a better point differential (60) than France (38) and Scotland (18). The top four teams advance to the semifinals.

A narrow 10-6 win by the U.S. over Australia coupled with Scotland's 21-0 shutout loss to New Zealand Friday evening assured that the Canadians would advance.

Undefeated New Zealand, England and fourth-place France also made the medal round, which begins Tuesday.

England maintained its perfect record in match play action Friday evening with a 27-8 win over France.
